EVRA TRIAL landmark study, patients with leg ulcers should have rapid specialist referral and rapid venous intervention. Clearly a significant difference in ulcer healing and cost effectiveness.

Early intervention on superficial venous incompetence results in accelerated healing, longer ulcer free time and undoubtedly cost effective.

Implications for practice are global:

Anybody who presents with a leg ulcer should have a rapid assessment.

If superficial vein incompetence is detected it should be rapidly treated.

Empower patients and nurses to seek referral to a vascular specialist to have their veins treated.

This is a very cost effective way to treat patients, please see video below from CX Symposium
