Claire was part of the Expert Group involved in the writing of Version Two of the National Therapeutic Guidelines for Ulcer and Wound Management. The Group consisted of experts from around Australia and included Vascular Surgeons, General Practitioners, Pharmacists, Podiatrists, Nurse Practitioners and Geriatricians.

These Guidelines incorporate cutting edge research with the capacity to change the face of ulcer care in Australia.  People with leg ulcers should be referred for immediate venous ultrasound.  Over 80% of leg ulcers are caused by vein disease.  It is now recommended these veins problems are immediately addressed with endovenous intervention from the outset.  This is the best way to optimise healing of the leg ulcer.  It is no longer recommended to have conservative treatment with compression and dressings alone.
